Community Updates

TimeScale Creator, a free JAVA package, enables you to explore and create charts of any portion of the geologic time scale from an extensive suite of global and regional events in Earth History.

Registration is open for the first Workshop on Solar Astronomy BIg Data (SABID). The workshop will take place in conjunction with the IEEE International Conference on Big Data.

NSF has officially funded 11 new EarthCube awards, including new building blocks and RCNs (research coordination networks), to continue the collaborative science and technological development of EarthCube.

Opportunities of Interest

The Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) is looking for host institutions for 2015 CLIR Fellowships.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on a multi-institution collaborative projected supported by the NSF EarthCube Program.

Maryland's iSchool seeks a postdoctoral fellow to work on the project "Establishing a Data Curation Program for Agricultural Information" at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Library (NAL).
